J. Blount Williams is the Chairman and CEO of Alfred Williams & Company – a regional distributor of office furniture and interior wall systems, headquartered in Raleigh, with offices in NC, SC, TN, TX and LA. A native North Carolinian, Blount joined AWC in 1981 and is a direct descendent of the company founder, Alfred Williams. Blount represents the fifth generation of family ownership and is the majority shareholder of the company. Blount earned a BA in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a MBA from the Babcock School of Management at Wake Forest University. Blount currently serves on the Board of Directors of WakeMed Health and Hospitals, the Board of the Dorothea Dix Park Conservancy, and the Leadership Council for WakeEd Partnership. He is the past Chairman of the Board of the WakeMed Foundation, past Chairman of the Board of Marbles Kids Museum, and served on the Executive Committee of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Blount served as Co-chair of the 2018 School Bond Referendum and in 2019 was inducted into the Raleigh Hall of Fame. He and his wife, Dargan, are recipients of the Vernon Malone Friend of Education award. Blount is a former Senior Warden at Christ Church, is married with four grown children and fifteen grandchildren. Blount and his family are tennis enthusiasts.
