Wake County Board of Commissioners
The information below contains links to each candidate’s campaign website and social media appearing in the March 15th Primary Election.
In 2015, the North Carolina General Assembly passed legislation that established new election rules and maps for the Wake County Board of Commissioners. While some election changes will not take effect until 2018, one important immediate change includes the expansion of the board from seven seats to nine, with the two new seats representing District A and District B.
District A covers mostly urban areas in central Wake County, and District B covers most of Wake County’s rural areas. Elections for both seats will appear on the 2016 General Election ballot, but only District B will appear on the March Primary Election ballot, as multiple candidates filed for both parties.
In 2018, Districts 1 – 7 will be up for election and county-wide at-large voting for each commissioner will end. Voters will only be able to vote for candidates representing their numerical and alphabetical districts.
