4. What is your long-term vision for growth in Raleigh?
I want to see Raleigh continue to grow, while staying safe. Our police and other first responders need to the best. We will have a housing policy that keeps property values from sky rocketing and provides housing availibility at all economic levels. We control our taxes so that those on fixed incomes do not get pushed out of the area. We continue to make Raleigh a destination for events and tourists. We negotiate with businesses moving into the area to get the best deal when asking them to pay for infrastruction and school inprovements as we grow. With our growth we continue to responsibly grow our parks system with revenues from new tax payers.
5. What do you see as the city's number one challenge?
Our police and fire fighters are under paid and face morale issues. They have been neglected. With the police it is reflected in a rising crime rate.
6. What are you hoping to achieve as an elected official that will foster a healthy and innovative business environment in both the near and long term?
Our businesses need to be secure and safe. They need to know that they will be afforted police projection if we are going to keep the investment of our small business owners. I also want to continue to establish retail zones within walking distance of high density populations,
7. The Wake County Transit plan will expand bus service countywide, implement four bus rapid transit lines, and initiate a regional commuter rail system. What would you like to see the City of Raleigh do to complement or modify this enhanced transit service?
I believe that looking into smaller businesses for some routes to expand reach and allow for more pickup times might be a good idea.
8. How do you plan to involve the community in the decision-making process in our city, especially area businesses?
I would like to Community Advisory Committees reinstated...These are an efficient way to discover what is important to the citizens.
9. How will you balance increased infrastructure and personnel funding needs of the city while also addressing economic growth, affordability, and quality of life?
We need to negotiate with businesses and developers to get the best deal to share in infrastructure costs. When a bond is passed to accommodate infrastructure for growth, it should not have to be tied to a tax rate increase. We should have a financial plan in plave to use economies of scale and tax revenues from new residents to finance the growth.
