It is vital that North Carolina’s job market continues to grow. That is why I support incentives for the purpose of retaining good employers within our communities and attracting new ones. We must work hard to ensure that North Carolina remains competitive as an economic, high-tech innovative hub. By incentivizing employers in our state, we can achieve higher wages, safer working conditions, and a greater standard of living for all citizens of North Carolina.

Do you support Medicaid expansion? Why or why not?
As someone with experience in the public health field, I am passionate about expanding access to healthcare. I believe that every citizen of North Carolina deserves access to high quality and affordable healthcare, and we should expand Medicaid immediately.
7. How do you intend to collaborate with your partners at the municipal and county level to create a better environment for our region?
The government plays a vital role in preventing and mitigating the catastrophic impacts of climate change. In order to address a problem as big as climate change, it is vital that all levels of government cooperate and work together. As a member of the General Assembly, I would collaborate with my partners at every level of government in order to create the best solution to any problem posed by environmental degradation.
8. How will you work to support Wake County’s public education needs, including our public schools, community colleges and public universities?
The Supreme Court has ruled that North Carolina is constitutionally obligated to provide children with a sound and basic education in 1997 and 2004. This obligation is paired with the responsibility to ensure children are taught by qualified teachers, staff, and principals. Additionally, North Carolina must supply all children with the necessary resources to succeed in our growing and evolving educational system.
Raising teacher pay is one of the first and most vital steps we must take as a state to ensure that our children are provided with exceptional educational possibilities. Increasing teacher pay would attract more qualified and committed individuals to come teach our children. Furthermore, as a state, we must work to make sure schools and classrooms are safe environments for our teachers and children.
We must work harder to make colleges more affordable to the average and underserved citizens of our state. In regard to public universities, we must work to expand access to grants and scholarships. As a state, we must take the necessary steps to ensure our children can succeed in college and their respective careers.
9. How will you help North Carolina to be more competitive regionally, nationally, and internationally?
As a Town Council Member, I have worked hard to create a business-friendly environment in Cary. North Carolinians work hard and deserve a thriving economy. In the state legislature, I will advocate for workers, small businesses, and job creation so that we come back stronger than ever from the pandemic.
Transportation/Transit – Continue to promote and implement an effective transit plan to optimize service delivery and position the state for ongoing growth.
Expanding transit options is crucial for maintaining North Carolina’s infrastructure with the rapid growth that is occurring throughout our state. Public transit must be the top priority of every elected official in North Carolina. While serving on the Cary Town Council, I have been a strong advocate for electric fleet and public transit in Cary. A better-connected transit system will boost our economy and make our community stronger. Therefore, we should diversify our transit system, expand bus routes, build safer bike lanes with barriers, and make it easier for our residents to use public transportation.
Economic Strength - Create a business-friendly environment to attract, retain and grow business, diversify the economic base, and create job opportunities for all citizens.
North Carolina must work to maintain a business-friendly state. Our state wants the best businesses and employers the world has to offer. By making sure North Carolina is home to good businesses that respect their workers, we will maintain economic strength and national competitiveness in the job market. From a policy standpoint, we must make the small-business economy more accessible to every citizen. Making it easier to start a small business will inevitably diversify the economy, resulting in greater job opportunities for all citizens.
Affordable Housing – Develop an effective affordable housing plan through collaboration with the government, the private sector, the community, and individuals.
It takes a village to address the housing affordability crisis. Private and public sectors must work together to make housing more accessible for our citizens, especially seniors and young professionals. State legislature can incentivize private sectors and local governments to develop a diverse and healthy housing stock and make sure our teachers, firefighters, and first responders live in the communities that they serve.
Great Government - Promote a vision of a city government that partners with all levels of government to empower, protect and serve its citizens through a culture of respect, collaboration, and innovation
As an elected official on the Cary Town Council, I value transparency and accountability. Citizens are not able to hold their elected officials accountable without complete transparency. Thus, the fastest way to create a respectful relationship between government and citizenry is through honesty and transparency.
Growth and Sustainability - Establish a deliberate and realistic approach to address growth and mobility while preserving our environment and healthy communities.
While serving on the Cary Town Council, I have been a strong advocate for electric fleet, public transit, solar, and solar infrastructure in Cary and will continue to advocate for environmental protections in the General Assembly. We need to reduce energy and water consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and waste.
Public Safety - Provide a safe, secure, and healthy community through coordinated, efficient, and effective public safety services.
North Carolina is one of the safest states in the nation. We must work even harder to ensure that our state remains a safe place to live for all of our citizens. Our schools, workplaces, and communities should be safe from violence. By strengthening sensible gun laws, strengthen policy funding, and creating more pedestrian-centric development, we can ensure that North Carolina remains safe for its citizens.
Social and Economic Vitality - Improve economic and social opportunities in vulnerable communities through strategic partnerships.
North Carolinians work hard and deserve a thriving economy. We must work hard to build a strong economy that works for everyone.
