Leadership Raleigh Class Guidelines

1. Attendance: To graduate from Leadership Raleigh, it is expected that you will attend all sessions in their entirety. Attendance at Orientation, Retreat and Graduation are mandatory. Failure to attend, requires withdrawal from the program. Note: there is one excused class absence and the invitation to attend or “switch” to attend the other class once to avoid loss of content and peer interaction. All requests must be submitted via email at the participant’s earliest convenience.

2. Non- Refundable Program Tuition: If a participant withdraws or is dismissed from the program at any time for any reason, the participant shall not be entitled to have any portion of their tuition refunded. Class tuition is non-transferable to another person or from one program year to the next.

3. Class Schedule: The eight topic specific classes will typically follow this schedule: meet at Lot-27, located at 502 New Bern Ave (Corner of New Bern and East) by 8:45 a.m. to board the bus for a day of programming that will conclude at 5 p.m. At 5 we will board the charter bus to return to Lot-27 by 5:15.
  • Retreat: overnight accommodation is included as part of the class tuition as well as designated meals and parking. Mileage and supplemental meals and entertainment are not included in the class tuition.
  • Report Session & Graduation: overnight accommodation and meals are included as part of your tuition. Mileage and incidentals are not included and will need to be covered by the individual
  • Guests: The program is designed for you and your classmates. Please do not invite guests to attend Leadership Raleigh activities. This is so that you may fully focus on the program and networking. Special Note: alumni may attend the class session that they help to plan.
  • Attire: Dress for Leadership Raleigh is business casual. Individual sessions may call for business attire (graduation) or casual (for any outdoor programming). The class agenda will be distributed in advance with recommendations for appropriate attire.
  • Class Materials: All class material will be sent electronically and stored in a ShareFile – uploaded throughout the program year.
  • Class Evaluations: To continuously improve the Leadership Raleigh program, you will be asked to complete an evaluation at different stages of the program year.

4. Project Team: As part of participation, in addition to the eight class days, each participant is placed into a project team to complete a service project that benefits the community with a local non-profit prior to graduation. This pairing and process is described in detail at the Retreat.

5. Conduct:  Any conduct that that discriminates, threatens, intimidates, or coerces on any basis a Leadership Raleigh participant, Raleigh Chamber employee, alumni advisory committee member, volunteer, visitor or a member of the public involved in Leadership Raleigh activities at any time, including not only Leadership Raleigh class dates, but also non-business and/or social functions associated with Leadership Raleigh Program, will not be tolerated and will result in immediate dismissal from the program. Any individual who believes that they have been subject to this conduct should immediately report the behavior or concern to the VP of Leadership Development or if the complaint involves the VP of Leadership Development, Amy Fowler the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce CFO.

6. Meals:  Your class tuition includes lunch during the program year. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know in advance so that we may make the necessary arrangements.
