Young Professionals Network Task Forces
Task Force Members are recognized as young professionals who are extraordinarily passionate about the Raleigh Region and making our city a better place to live, work, and explore. They are an advisory council of emerging & established leaders that helps steer our events and initiatives, guide the network towards stronger recruitment, and identify areas of strength, weakness, and opportunity.
Being a member of the Young Professional Network Task Force, you will focus on propelling our four pillars – careers, community, conversations, and culture – as we advance our work as a regional hub for young professionals.

Programs Task Force

Programs Task Force members define and support YPN’s career development programming. Programs are held four times a year (Feb., May, Aug., Nov.) and are designed to maintain connection to the network and serve as business development opportunities. Example topics include networking, career coaching, management strategies, compensation negotiation, and more.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of content for each program, handle scheduling, determine panelists, logistics, and day of support – lead each program.
- Collaborate with the team to templatize key documents and workflows and help track and report on project milestones. (Speaker ask, Content brief, PowerPoint, Script)
- Support the Task Force lead and the rest of the team on various administrative needs (i.e., setting up meetings, follow- up notes, agenda creation, etc.)
- Assist with speaker asks and coordinate with confirmed speakers for each program.
- Partner with YPN Community Involvement liaison and YPN manager to determine the organization we will be collecting donations for each program.
Transferable Skills:
- Plan events, seminars, workshops, and conference content.
- Identify upcoming trends, topics, and actionable take-aways.
- Ability to interact, schedule, and collaborate with a broad spectrum of contributing groups.
- Ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle time-sensitive projects deadlines.
Marketing Task Force
Marketing Task Force members interact with all four pillars of the Task Force as the public voice of the Young Professionals Network. With the help of the Raleigh Chamber’s internal Communications Team, Marketing Task Force members create media content for YPN through event coverage, website/blog management, social media, email marketing, and other creative outlets.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Programs & Community Involvement Task Forces to promote upcoming events, provide media coverage of events, and create event re-caps.
- Collaborate with the Membership Task Force to create unique media outreach strategies, identify prospective members, and relay the YPN social media climate.
- Collaborate with the Engagement Task Force to track and manage social media engagement and create “member spotlights.”
- Collaborate with the Communication Team to ensure digital channels (social media, website, blog, newsletter etc.) have accurate and compelling content that drives engagement while maintaining the YPN brand identity.
- Be a champion of diversity and inclusion by prioritizing diverse perspectives, voices, and collaborations across all platforms.
Transferable Skills:
- A strong sense of visual style. Photography, videography, and/or graphic design.
- Detail oriented copywriting, excellent communication, and the ability to effectively convey and highlight different voices.
- Social media engagement, planning and forecasting.
- Interacting with a large-scale member-focused community.
Membership Task Force
Do you love making new connections? Meeting new people? Helping individuals get involved? The Membership Task Force is the foundational team that builds lasting relationships with prospective and current members through recruitment, referrals, and retention. They are the stewards of the new member onboarding process and work closely with the Engagement Task Force to foster current member event participation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist the Raleigh Chamber Relationship Managers with recruitment, renewals, and individual goals through strategic outreach & lead generation.
- Secure additional member referrals from the Engagement & Marketing Task Forces and aim to invite one new prospect to each program and social.
- Follow up with prospective YPN members after events and socials via phone and email.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate membership growth and retention strategies alongside the Task Force Chair and YPN Chamber Manager.
Transferable Skills:
- Enthusiasm to make connections and lasting relationships on a one-on-one and business-to-business model.
- Excellent sales, communication, and customer service in person, phone, and email.
- Strong communicator and innovative thinker, with an ability to use data to inform decisions.
- Attention to detail and complex scheduling, with a consistent high level of responsiveness and follow-up.
Engagement Task Force
The Engagement Task Force are the leaders in creating a welcoming atmosphere and connecting members to others by modeling relationship-building skills in all interactions. Successful Engagement members are self-driven individuals with a service mindset who works well with others, enjoys relationship cultivation, and are ready to help the Raleigh YPN program grow!
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create a team environment that delivers exceptional experiences to members, fosters open inter-network communication and accountability, and promotes authentic self-realization while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Cultivate membership engagement through individual outreach, networking, and event promotion.
- Serve as a host committee at YPN programs and socials, with a focus on facilitating small group opportunities for members to connect. (Programs 4/year and Socials 2/year)
- Assist the YPN Chair with Raleigh Chamber’s New Member Orientation event and YPN’s New Member Orientation event.
- Encourage the growth of YPN through inviting prospective members and provide Membership Task Force with any prospective membership leads.
Transferable Skills:
- Community building, social outreach, networking, and relationship development.
- Ability to relate and connect to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Positive, confident, and outgoing communication.
Community Involvement Task Force

The Community Involvement Task Force is dedicated to supporting and improving Raleigh and its community through public service, food/clothing drives, and non-profit volunteering. With the help of local non-profits, they identify the needs of the community to develop and facilitate Community Service Days and Program Drives.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead two (2) annual community service days – Spring and Fall.
- Determine volunteering opportunities through coordination with Chamber non-profit partners.
- Identify non-profit opportunities that should be featured in the YPN Newsletter.
- Coordinate YPN community drives to be held at programs.
- Proactively build relationships with local non-profits & for-good businesses to support them in community building efforts.
- Leverage the YPN digital platform to drive local community engagement.
Transferable Skills:
- A desire to better the community, region, and world.
- Creative thinking, problem solving, flexible negotiation and logistical planning.
- Developing and producing thoughtful, engaging events that deliver strategic objectives tailored to an intended audience.
