Council for Entrepreneurial Development 
Founded in 1984 as an outgrowth of a collaboration between the three major area universities and the Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill chambers of commerce, the Council for Entrepreneurial Development helps entrepreneurs in a wide range of industries and at all stages of development—from high-tech product-based organizations to professional service firms, from one person start-ups, to 1,000-person businesses. The council also presents an annual Venture Fair which provides selected growth companies the opportunity to present their business plans to hundreds of investors throughout the U.S. and Canada. The state of North Carolina is currently considering franchising the CED approach across the entire state.

The Hamner Institute for Health Sciences
The Hamner Institute for Health Sciences is an independent, nonprofit coalition of universities, foundations, government agencies, and private sector businesses engaged in environmental risk assessment and biomedical sciences research and development. The goals of The Hamner Institute are to facilitate development of new and safer medicines, guard public health and safety, and to contribute to the economic growth of North Carolina and the nation. The Hamner Institute for Health Sciences operates two flagship institutes—The Institute for Chemical Safety Sciences and the Institute for Drug Safety Sciences. Both institutes are working with key government agencies and industry partners to develop cutting-edge approaches that will transform the way toxicity testing is performed. The end result of these changes will be faster, more cost-effective testing, better predictive tools for evaluating the safety of pharmaceuticals and environmental chemicals, and accelerated development of new products. Four Centers of Excellence in preclinical safety and efficacy, genomic biology and bioinformatics, computational and dose response modeling, and human health assessment support the two institutes in their goals. As a health effects research institute, The Hamner is ideally located in Research Triangle Park, which is also home to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and major facilities of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences is a new entity that exists outside of the boundaries of the traditional university, yet facilitates joint appointments with Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, and North Carolina public universities. Through collaborative initiatives that strengthen the outcomes of the research investment, The Hamner offers all of the intellectual, collegial, and scientific benefits of a leading research university.

National Association of Women Business Owners
The National Association of Women Business Owners provides support to women entrepreneurs in social, economic, and political arenas. NAWBO focuses on promoting economic development, creating innovation and effective change, building strategic alliances, and influencing public policy.

National Humanities Center 
The National Humanities Center is the only major independent American institute for advanced study in all fields of the humanities. Outstanding scholars from across the United States and more than 30 other nations have been awarded fellowships for advanced study at the National Humanities Center. NCBIO
NCBIO is North Carolinas state-level affiliate of the national Biotechnology Industry Organization.Together, the two groups advocate federal, state, and local public policies designed to help the bioscience industry fulfill its extraordinary promise as a source of economic opportunity and improved quality of life. North Carolina Biotechnology Center 
The North Carolina Biotechnology Center is a private, nonprofit corporation established in 1981 as the United States’ first statewide initiative in biotechnology. North Carolina State University’s Centennial Campus 
Centennial Campus opened in 1988 and is the first of its kind in the nation. Centennial Campus is North Carolina State University’s vision of the future. Research Triangle Institute
The Research Triangle Institute is a not-for-profit corporation established in 1958 by leaders in academia, business, and state government, which provides contract research to federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as to private industry and foundations. The institute was founded to serve as a focal point for the development of Research Triangle Park. Capabilities span the physical, life, and social sciences, including survey research, behavioral studies, chemistry, energy and environmental research, population, education, health systems, economics, statistics, state planning, engineering, technology applications, virtual reality applications, toxicology, and toxic wastes. Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society 
Sigma Xi is the honor society of research scientists and engineers. It is an international, multidisciplinary society whose programs and activities promote the health of the scientific enterprise, reward excellence in scientific research, and encourage a sense of companionship and cooperation among scientists in all fields. Scientists and engineers are elected to Sigma Xi based on their research potential or achievements. The society includes nearly 60,000 active members. More than 200 Nobel Prize-winning members are commemorated in the Hall of Honor at the Sigma Xi Center in Research Triangle Park. Sigma Xi has more than 500 chapters in North America and around the world at colleges and universities, industrial research centers, and government laboratories. Small Business and Technology Development Center 
Organized as an inter-institutional program of the University of North Carolina System, the Small Business and Technology Development Center is the primary organization through which the state of North Carolina provides counseling and technical assistance to entrepreneurs as well as medium-size businesses facilitating technology development and commercialization.

Business Start-Up & Resource Guide
The Business Start-Up and Resource Guide provides information relevant to those interested in starting a business. The guide is composed of seven sections with questions, worksheets, and online resources to aid in the start-up process. Legal considerations, business planning, and business financing options are among the information provided.

The Triangle Universities Center for Advanced Studies, Inc. 
The Triangle Universities Center for Advanced Studies, Inc. was incorporated in 1975 by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University in Durham, and North Carolina State University in Raleigh. Triangle Game Initiative
