GoPutts North Carolina, a mobile mini golf experience designed for events and community gatherings, will celebrate its launch with a community putting party and charity competition at Seven Saturdays Tap Room, part of Raleigh-based R&D Brewing. City of Raleigh Construction Standards
The City of Raleigh enforces higher standards for construction projects within the regulatory floodplain. Please review the flyer to learn more about elevation requirements, flood damage prevention, and green stormwater infrastructure. Also, the City has officially achieved a Class 5 rating in FEMA’s Community Rating System (CRS). This designation provides a 25% discount on flood insurance premiums for both residential and commercial properties. Reminder from the City of Raleigh
The City of Raleigh is reminding all businesses and residents that placing trash, leaves, grass clippings, or any other materials into storm drains is prohibited. Storm drains are designed to carry rainwater from streets and neighborhoods into local streams and rivers, nothing else. Keeping storm drains free of debris helps prevent street flooding by allowing stormwater to flow properly into the drainage system. Clean drains also help protect the city’s natural floodplain functions, which play a vital role in flood risk reduction, water storage, erosion control, groundwater recharge, wildlife habitat, and support biodiversity. Business owners and residents are encouraged to dispose of yard waste, trash, and other materials properly, and to do their part in protecting Raleigh’s waterways and floodplains. Together, we can keep our city clean, resilient, and safe from flooding. |

Meredith College held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, September 5, for the Estes-Speight Family Athletic Center. The new athletic center was made possible by Chris Speight Brown, ’76, along with her siblings Elizabeth Speight Cooley and Bobby Speight, Jr., who made a $1 million lead gift to name the center in memory of their mother, Mary Estes Speight, ’53, and their father, Bobby Speight. Ginger Neustadt, '05, generously contributed to the naming of the student-athlete lounge. The Lisa Brown De Armas, '03, Meredith College Athletics Hall of Fame was also given by Brown in honor of her daughter and can be found in the Cate Student Center. The Hall of Fame recognizes the academic and athletic accomplishments of Meredith College athletes, coaches, and administrators.
