Chris BakerAre you an incumbent?.No
1. Do you support the City of Raleigh’s $275 million parks bond on the ballot this November?
No
2. Do you support the $353.2 million Wake Tech bond on the ballot this November?
No
3. Do you support the $530.7 million Wake County schools bond on the ballot this November?
No
4. Do you support the use of incentives for the attraction and retention of employers?
Undecided as it depends on the return on investment for the citizens of North Carolina to use incentives for the attraction and retention of employers. Our state has given out plenty of incentives that have been proven to be bad deals for the public interest.
5. Do you support the use of incentives for the attraction and retention of employers? Why or why not?

6. Do you support Medicaid expansion?
Yes
6. Do you support Medicaid expansion?
No
Do you support Medicaid expansion? Why or why not?
Undecided. As first before making a decision on if Medicaid should be expanded here in North Carolina I would like to see a full audit of making sure that the funds are being spent and will be going to the most needy.
7. How do you intend to collaborate with your partners at the municipal and county level to create a better environment for our region?
I would put partisan politics aside because what people are tired of and one of the main reasons I am running for the Senate seat here in District 14 is to be a voice of the people. I'm open to hearing more from all stake holders here in my district.
8. How will you work to support Wake County’s public education needs, including our public schools, community colleges and public universities?
Educator and school staff pay is one issue we need to have addressed. We are losing so many hardworking individuals due to them being underpaid and not appreciated for their work being done. As a former employee of the UNC System I have heard and will fight for the problems you need addressed at the State Legislature. I want to get back to the basics in education so that many educators are not quitting to go work in the private industry due to so many unnecessary burdens they have been place under recently.
9. How will you help North Carolina to be more competitive regionally, nationally, and internationally?
I will help North Carolina be more competitive by continuing to fight for a lower tax burden for all. Have a government that is transparent, that we can trust that focuses on a quality educational systems for our citizens. I will put pride back us having a strong educated workforce that will attract many companies to relocate to our state.
Transportation/Transit – Continue to promote and implement an effective transit plan to optimize service delivery and position the state for ongoing growth.
As a commercial truck driver myself I have witnessed serval issues that need to be addressed to optimize transit and transportation service for our citizens. Eastern Wake County has grown by citizen population but transportation needs have been put on the shelf. We need more transportation that can assist the elderly to their medical visits, roads need to be expanded and resurfaced, I'm not happy with our local citizens having to pay a toll on the new extension of I-540. I'm always willing to hear innovative ideas from the public and private sector to best fit our communities transportation needs.
Economic Strength - Create a business-friendly environment to attract, retain and grow business, diversify the economic base, and create job opportunities for all citizens.
A business-friendly environment would be to continue with what our current legislature has done by lowering the tax burden. I also would like to fix problems with our unemployment system so that businesses are not paying a high unemployment insurance premium in the event a employee has lost their job. But also would like to make it easier for our North Carolinians to receive the portions they pay into unemployment in the event they are laid off. Workers pay into the system and should have access to the money taken out of their checks in the event they need it.
Affordable Housing – Develop an effective affordable housing plan through collaboration with the government, the private sector, the community, and individuals.
A lot of the affordable housing problems we are experiencing is left up to the local governments public/private partnerships and local taxes. I would like to hear more from local leaders as what programs they need assistance with from the state level.
Great Government - Promote a vision of a city government that partners with all levels of government to empower, protect and serve its citizens through a culture of respect, collaboration, and innovation
By continuing to allow local governments to make decisions on their population base. Less control from the top. Always open to hearing new ideas. What I have seen locally in my district is the towns have taken a great effort to embrace with their citizens through digital platforms and holding several community events so that people can get out to connect and collaborate as a community.
Growth and Sustainability - Establish a deliberate and realistic approach to address growth and mobility while preserving our environment and healthy communities.
Public Safety - Provide a safe, secure, and healthy community through coordinated, efficient, and effective public safety services.
My district has great first responders. What I have witnessed is our departments have done a great job with doing their part in connecting with the communities they serve. I would like to continue to be able to assist them with any problems they may have and expand upon their community outreach programs. I also would like to tackle the issues we have with homelessness. Three things I have said during my campaign is with every decision I make people need to eat, have shelter, and access to health services.
Social and Economic Vitality - Improve economic and social opportunities in vulnerable communities through strategic partnerships.
